- Full-time
The data entry is the easy part. The real job is looking at a number and asking, “Does this make sense?”
A manufacturer in the Inland Empire is adding a Data Entry Specialist to own the data behind its costs: customer records, pricing that moves every time fuel does, and carrier rates. The volume is high, but this isn’t mindless keying.
The hardest part is catching the rate that breaks the trend before it reaches an invoice. The role starts as temp-to-hire, with one full-time seat approved after the first of the year, so both sides get a real look before committing.
If you’re the person who builds a spreadsheet nobody asked for because something looked off, this one is worth a look.
What you’ll own
- Entering and maintaining customer records at high volume, keeping the database clean and current
- Updating cost and pricing data, which changes regularly as fuel prices swing
- Carrier communications: logging rate changes, tracking trends, and running regression analysis to see where costs are heading
- Building ad hoc spreadsheet reports when someone needs an answer quickly
- Checking the data for anything that doesn’t add up and flagging it before it becomes someone else’s problem
What you bring
- Fast, accurate data entry at volume
- Strong Excel skills: lookups, pivots, and turning raw data into a report
- Comfort with trend or regression analysis, or the curiosity to get there quickly
- SQL, Access, or Python is a plus
- Experience with freight, logistics, or pricing data is a plus
- You catch things, and you say something
Why this one is worth a look
- $25/hour
- A full-time seat is already approved for after the first of the year, so the “hire” in temp-to-hire is real
- A collaborative team where people have each other’s backs, with no office drama
- More analysis than the title suggests, so the work rewards thinking, not just typing
- Fuel volatility keeps the numbers moving, so the work never goes stale
- A two-way evaluation, so you’ll know whether the team fits you before you commit
