Job description

Salary: $76,960 - 156,000 per year

Requirements:

  • Proven experience developing custom Shopify themes or theme components, with strong Shopify Liquid skills
  • Practical experience with JSON templates, section schemas, reusable sections and blocks, and Shopify Theme Editor settings
  • Advanced HTML5 and CSS3 skills, plus competent JavaScript skills
  • Responsive ecommerce development experience and Git-based version control experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot and safely extend existing Shopify themes and accurately follow approved UX/UI specifications
  • Clear communication and dependable delivery estimates
  • Preferred: experience with Shopify CLI, metafields and metaobjects, ecommerce accessibility, theme performance optimization, existing-theme refactoring, and controlled staging, testing, and deployment workflows
  • Provide 2–3 completed Shopify projects featuring custom Liquid components you personally developed, with a brief description of your contribution to each
  • Provide an example of a configurable Shopify section using blocks and Theme Editor settings, and describe your experience with Shopify CLI and Git
  • State your earliest available start date, weekly availability, proposed fixed-price cost, and estimated delivery timeline for the initial assignment
  • Confirm willingness to complete a small unpaid technical assessment in a controlled test environment as part of the selection process
  • Demonstrate hands-on Shopify Liquid implementation experience; applicants with only general website-development experience will receive lower priority
  • Answer the application questions about custom Liquid projects, configurable sections, preventing CSS or JavaScript conflicts, Shopify CLI and Git, structuring a reusable six-card component, assessment willingness, availability, pricing, delivery time, and hands-on Liquid experience

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine reusable Shopify Liquid sections, blocks, snippets, and schemas
  • Build or refine a configurable homepage component supporting up to six experience cards, with image selection, editable titles, optional descriptions, destination URLs, visibility controls, and display-order management
  • Ensure content can be managed through Shopify Theme Editor without code changes
  • Implement responsive behavior for desktop, tablet, and mobile
  • Maintain consistent spacing, image presentation, typography, and interaction behavior
  • Follow accessible frontend-development practices
  • Reuse existing theme components and styling conventions where possible
  • Keep CSS scoped and JavaScript minimal to avoid unintended theme conflicts
  • Preserve existing navigation, checkout, customer-account, and theme functionality

More:

We are seeking an experienced Shopify Liquid Developer for a short-term, contract/project-based assignment supporting an established ecommerce website. The work will take place within an existing Shopify theme architecture; it is not a full website redesign, new Shopify store build, or headless-commerce project. The initial assignment is a reusable homepage experience-discovery component, and any expanded scope requires separate approval. The engagement excludes unauthorized direct changes to the live production theme, checkout or payment-processing changes, customer-record or account-system changes, unapproved third-party applications or paid services, replacement of functional pages or templates without approval, and work beyond the approved milestone. The role is remote, with a hybrid-remote work location in Jacksonville, Florida (32207). It is a short-term contract/project engagement with fixed-price project compensation, an expected initial availability of 10–20 hours per week, and a separately stated expected-hours figure of 30 hours per week. The listed pay range is $37–$75 per hour, and additional work may be available following successful delivery and separate approval. The technical assessment is for evaluation in a controlled test environment only, not a production assignment or commercial deliverable.
