Job description

Celebrated as the #3Top Workplace in the D.C. region for 2024 by The Washington Post since 2019, Goodwin Living is more than a team – it's a global family of individuals who represent more than 70 countries.

Goodwin Living is proud to be recognized as a Top Workplace in the greater Washington, D.C. region by The Washington Post every year since 2019 — and now nationally by USA Today. Since 2022, we’ve also been annually recognized as one of the top 100 employers for interns by the Top Virginia Employers for Intern Awards. These honors are based entirely on feedback from our team members, gathered through an annual third-party survey. Here’s what they say makes us stand out:

  • Embracing Diversity: Our strength is in our diverse team from over 65 countries, fostering an inclusive and vibrant culture that values every voice.
  • Growth and Opportunities: We bolster personal and professional development, offering myriad opportunities, from on-the-job training to mentorship programs and financial support, to help you reach your full potential.
  • Valuing Our Team Members: By prioritizing team member satisfaction, we create a fulfilling work environment with competitive benefits, work-life balance, and recognition programs, ensuring our team feels appreciated and valued.

About the Position

Are you passionate about making a real difference in people's lives? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be at the forefront of evaluating and treating residents experiencing declines in functional tasks such as Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), transfers, and safety due to illness, injury, or disease processes. Your expertise will help develop effective treatment plans approved by referring physicians, ensuring compliance with Medicare rules and regulations. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our residents, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluative and Therapeutic Excellence: You will provide top-notch Occupational Therapy evaluations and treatments, aiming to overcome specific functional losses. Your goal will be to enhance our residents' ability to perform ADLs and transfer safely, catering to both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Collaboration and Communication: As a team player, you'll effectively communicate with physicians, nursing, and other team members about residents' progress. Your role is crucial in coordinating treatment plans, reporting changes in medical status, and participating in care plan meetings and discharge planning.
  • Family and Team Education: You will play a significant role in educating families and health team members to improve outcomes and ensure effective follow-through with exercises and functional tasks. Your ability to maintain positive rapport with residents, family members, and caregivers is key.
  • Compliance and Improvement: Ensuring accurate billing records and compliance with Medicare guidelines will be part of your responsibilities. You'll also provide valuable in-services to nursing staff to enhance service coordination and competency in restorative nursing programs.

A Position Designed for Flexibility and Extra Earnings!

Our PRN policy is tailored for those seeking additional hours with the flexibility to balance personal commitments. Whether you're looking to supplement your income, desire a change of pace, or want to gain a unique experience in working with older adults, Goodwin Living offers the perfect opportunity.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA approved and accredited college or university.
  • Current Virginia and District of Columbia Physical Therapy license
  • CPR certified (adult only)
  • Possess the qualities of compassion and empathy and comfort with at risk or low-income constituents.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully and compassionately with clients, family members, and caregivers

A sampling of our many benefits!

At Goodwin Living, we’ve got you covered with incredible benefits, whether you work full-time, part-time, or PRN (as needed). Here’s a glimpse of what we offer to PRN team members:

  • Tuition Assistance for Career Development
  • Tutoring for ESL, Citizenship Test & GED
  • Referral Program: Earn up to $3,000 for referring friends and family!
