Job description

High School STEM Teacher Location:

  • Aug Prep North Campus Schedule: Full-time during 10-month school year.

  • We are thrilled to launch our North Campus in the 26-27 school year, initially serving about 300 students in grades K4-6 and 9.

  • You will have a deep understanding of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) content areas and the ability to connect with and inspire students through hands-on, inquiry-based learning.

  • Ideal candidates will also be well versed in strategies to promote metacognitive engagement and be willing to go the extra mile for students.
  • Candidates should be organized, detail oriented, and show expertise in developing lesson plans.
  • Academics Deliver rigorous, engaging instruction and ensure every learner meets or exceeds academic goals.
  • Grounded in a deep belief in the potential of every student , implement instructional strategies to provide individualized and small group instruction by adapting the 9-12 curriculum to meet the needs of each pupil.
  • Use academic data to modify both whole and small-group instruction in order to best meet the needs of their students.

Plan and Deliver Instruction:

  • Develop and implement rigorous, standards-aligned, and engaging project-based lesson plans that integrate multiple STEM disciplines.

Teach STEM Courses:

  • Instruct students across a variety of high school STEM subjects (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering Design), based on departmental needs and your area of expertise.
  • Design and execute hands-on laboratory experiments and engineering design challenges, adhering to safety protocols.

Differentiate Learning:

  • Adapt instruction, materials, and assignments to meet the varied learning needs, abilities, and interests of all students, including those with IEPs or ELL status.

Facilitate Laboratory Work:

  • Develop, set up, and supervise hands-on laboratory experiments and demonstrations, ensuring students learn proper scientific procedure and strict safety protocols .

Evaluate Work:

  • Assess and evaluate student writing, reading comprehension, and oral presentations using clear rubrics and providing detailed, constructive feedback .

Maintain Records:

  • Accurately record and report student attendance, grades, and progress in compliance with school and district policies.
  • Manage and maintain STEM lab equipment, materials, and technology, ensuring a safe and organized workspace.
  • Establish and enforce clear classroom expectations and school policies.
  • Stay current with best practices in STEM education, curriculum development, and educational technology through ongoing professional learning.
  • Sponsor or participate in STEM-related extracurricular activities, such as Science Olympiad, Robotics Club, or coding competitions.

Promote STEM Inquiry:

  • Foster a culture of curiosity and a lifelong appreciation for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through exploration, experimentation, and problem-solving.

Prepare for Exams:

  • Prepare students for standardized tests and college-level exams, such as the SAT, ACT, or Advanced Placement (AP) exams where applicable.

Utilize Technology:

  • Integrate educational technology, software, and resources into the STEM curriculum to enhance learning experiences. Whole Child Build trusting relationships with students so each child feels known, seen and loved. Serve as the cultural and spiritual model for their students, always interacting respectfully and striving to demonstrate God’s love to their students and families.

Support students’ character development by modeling and reinforcing the Aug Prep Way:

  • serving in love with integrity, respect, courage and perseverance.
  • Professional Communicate proactively and consistently with students, families, and colleagues, providing frequent updates on student progress, classroom activities, and school initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively and supportively with colleagues, supervisors, students, parents/guardians, and community members, maintaining positive, solution-oriented relationships that foster a strong, inclusive environment for optimal learning.

Continuously seek professional growth through building and department meetings/professional development, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars/in-services. School Duties:

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned, such as supervising students outside of class (hall duty, lunch duty) or advising extracurricular activities (like a Math Club or coaching).
  • Other Serve with a flexible, open heart that recognizes no duty is outside the scope of your role--we are a team that is stronger together in service of our students. The first few years of our school you may be asked to serve outside of your roll or area. We are looking for someone who is ready to roll up their sleeves and help in any way needed.   • A bachelor’s degree is required in a relevant STEM field (e.g., Education, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science), along with any additional accreditation requirements.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in teaching or student teaching high school STEM classes; experience teaching AP, Honors, or other advanced STEM courses is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Expertise in scientific concepts, principles, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current educational technology and its application in the classroom (e.g., learning management systems, data acquisition tools, coding platforms).
  • Proficiency in utilizing project-based learning (PBL) and inquiry-based learning methodologies.
  • Lastly and most important, the candidate must demonstrate and possess the highest integrity, and be able to live the values, beliefs, and culture of St.
