Job description

Involves the supervision or management of nuclear medicine technologists, who prepare, administer and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic and diagnostic studies using a variety of radioisotope equipment. Involves explaining imaging procedures to patients, monitoring patient's responses to the radioactive drugs, keeping detailed recordsof procedures and following safety precautions to protect themselves and patients from unnecessary radiation exposure. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist Supervisor responsibilities can include, yet are not limited to the following:

  • Supervises nuclear medicine technologists; may also supervise technicians and support personnel.
  • Coordinates department schedule ensuring adequate 24 / 7 coverage.
  • Organizes workflow ensuring equitable distribution of work assignments.
  • Coaches technologists in department procedures, image quality, patient positioning, administering radiopharmaceuticals and proper use of equipment.
  • Participates in decision-making on hiring, promotions, increases, discipline, and other personnel matters.
  • Recommends changes in staffing and budget to ensure efficient operations.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance, communicating performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitors compliance with infection control, environmental health, safety and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinates technologist orientation and training programs.
  • Assists in the implementation of new programs.
  • Identifies ways to increase efficiency and contain costs.
  • Oversees department supply inventory.
  • Encourages teamwork and cooperation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current California CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist)
  • Five (5) or more years of radiology experience.
  • Experience and applied background in nuclear medicine.
  • Applied background in nuclear medicine and associated modalities.
  • Knowledge of principles, protocols, terms and concepts.
  • Skill operating imaging equipment.
  • Solid communication skills both written and verbal,
  • Demonstrated ability to listen actively and counsel and work in a collaborative manner.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATINS

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist issued by NMTCB and/or ARRT (R.T(N)(ARRT).
  • Registered Technologist for Computed Tomography issued by ARRT (R.T(CT)(ARRT)).
  • One year of experience working in a Lead or Supervisor role.
  • Experience working in CT.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, if necessary.
  • Must be able to work various locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $112,100 - $216,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $53.69 - $103.69

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
