About the Position

As a BIM Specialist, you will be responsible for providing building information modeling (BIM) services for Company projects and assisting in the development of fully constructible 3D models and detailed construction documents as necessary to support field electricians with challenging electrical installations. Our Ideal Candidate

  • Has a growth mindset and is always looking to continually learn and grow.
  • Is detail oriented and has strong organizational skills.
  • Can work independently and meet deadlines with minimal oversight.

Day in the Life

  • Produces constructable 3D model content and detailed electrical construction installation documents. Completes 2D and 3D drafting tasks to support electrical construction initiatives, utilizing standard Company software, such as Revit.
  • Develops conceptual designs, sketches, or value engineering ideas to help project managers or estimators prepare estimates. Prepares calculations, specifications, cable pull schedules, reports and other documents as needed.
  • Consults with vendors and reviews project shop drawings for design accuracy and contract requirements. Works with project managers as needed to develop engineered construction installation drawings from contract documents developed by outside firms.
  • Maintains appropriate communications with all appropriate parties as needed. Makes plan changes according to feedback received. Provides technical support to project managers, field personnel, estimators, and customers. May attend BIM coordination meetings.
  • Responds to questions and addresses problems with appropriate resolutions and plan revisions as needed.
  • Develops a high level of understanding in the installation of electrical systems, the National Electrical code, and other building codes. Stays informed of new electrical and safety codes, materials, technologies, techniques, and practices. Participates in electrical construction-related training to maintain a high level of proficiency and updated technical skills.
  • Builds effective relationships with customers, foremen, project teams, specialty contractors, vendors, suppliers, user groups and others that reflect and support the Company’s core values and meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience in building information modeling (BIM) trade school, engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 1-2 years of BIM modeling experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in using Autodesk, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience using Evolve software is a plus.
  • Basic skills to read, interpret and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, and specifications preferred.
  • A strong desire to learn more about electrical design and construction, with a commitment to being a dependable team player and growing with the Company.

Travel
