Mitchell Activity Center Fitness Instructor

Position Summary

The Mitchell Activity Center (MAC) is a hub for students, staff and faculty at Seattle Central College to gather, socialize, recreate, and exercise. In addition, the MAC serves as a rental space for both college affiliated groups and external rental groups.

The Mitchell Activity Center Fitness Instructor is a part-time temporary position. This position contributes to group fitness classes at the Mitchell Activity Center. We are looking for instructors for Yoga. Duties include conducting and leading classes, demonstrating fitness techniques, motivating students, sending in daily class attendance and engaging with staff at the Mitchell Activity Cetner

• Provides welcoming, effective and timely service.

• Conduct and lead classes
• Demonstrate practice and techniques
• Visually assess students to determine their level of practice
• Assist students to achieve correct technique
• Motivate students with words of encouragement
• Create a positive, fun environment
• Offer training recommendations
• Send in daily class attendance

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

• Previous teaching experience
• Education or experience in health and fitness
• Certification is preferable
• Ability to provide customer service to patrons and visitors.
• Ability to maintain positive and effective relationships with students and other employees.
• Demonstrated commitment to promote equitable access and service to a diverse community.
