Job description
JOB TITLE: Behavior Technician (BT)

SUMMARY: The Behavior Technician provides direct behavior-analytic services to mautistic children and others with neurodevelopmental differences and works as part of a transdisciplinary treatment team in various settings, including home, clinic, school, and community settings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Execute all responsibilities and skills associated with the Board Certified Autism Technician (BCAT) certification. Must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Provide direct implementation of holistic, neurodiversity-affirming behavior analytic services to children with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental differences in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Implement Cortica’s Whole Child Approach according to treatment plans and strategies provided and overseen by the assigned Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Utilize a strengths-based treatment approach developed in collaboration with the BCBA and the transdisciplinary team.
  • Provide client self-care skill development in collaboration with caregivers including toilet training, personal hygiene, and dressing.
  • Deliver behavior-analytic care in various settings including home, community, school, clinic or other designated settings as determined in the child’s assessment and treatment plan.
  • Travel to various settings for care delivery within the designated region as assigned by clinic location.
  • Complete all documentation requirements including data collection and session notes during the session.
  • Assist with individualized assessment procedures through preference assessments and data collection.
  • Follow Cortica crisis and emergency procedures, including safety and de-escalation strategies, first aid strategies, and mandated reporting.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality in alignment with Cortica policies in all scheduled sessions, meetings and/or administrative sessions, as assigned.
  • Adapt to various situations and remain calm in unpredictable and stressful situations.
  • Work may be completed in person, either in clinic, in client homes, schools, or the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Environment:This job is performed in various settings including, clinic, in client home, school, and other community locations. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, grasp or feel; reach with hands and arms; push and pull, and talk, hear and smell. The team member is required to run, sprint, physically block, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Team members in this position may encounter prolonged sitting and/or standing. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position may require working with a diverse group of individuals. This position may require working with students of all ages as well as parents and staff. Team members in this position may encounter stressful situations where a professional attitude will be required. Multi-tasking is essential as deadlines and frequent interruptions are common.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Obtain Board Certified Autism Technician (BCAT) credential within 90 days of employment.
  • Obtain assigned safety training certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Must maintain reliable transportation and be able to travel to assigned work locations.
  • First aid/CPR training or ability to obtain.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) clearance.
