Additional Information About the Role Pod 2 Location Barnes – Main Campus South West Tower Leadership Angee Ronzio, Director Patricia (Patty) Sosa, Patient Care Manager Mendi Hill, Assistant Nurse Manager Brittany Via – Assistant Nurse Manager Team Details 20 – Total Team Members 14 – Registered Nurse 05 - Surgical Technologists 01 - Unit Secretary Specialties Trauma (from ER: car accidents, GSW, broken bones, etc.) Reconstructive surgery for Ortho (Hip/knee replacement, orthoscopic knee or shoulder, etc.) Ortho Trauma Trauma Service (wound treatment) Plastics Repair Role Details Four 10-hour shifts per week, 12-hour shifts available for experienced nurses (2 years of experience) Day Shift Hours: 6:30a to 5:00p or 7:00p Off-Shift Hours: 9:00a to 9:30or 10:30a Night Shift Hours: 6:30p to 7:00a, 9:30p or 1:30a Call: Four to Five 12-hour call shifts each 6-week schedule period, self-scheduled Holidays: One 8-hour shift per year, rotate Winter/Spring Weekends: n/a Graduate Nurse Eligibility: Yes Orientation: 6+ months for early career and experienced nurses The BJC Registered Nurse Career Ladder differentiates BJC as the place for nurses to work in the greater St. Louis area. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development. Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
