Job Summary:
This Manager of Patient Access opportunity is Full Time on our Admitting department and offers a convenient day shift schedule. We are looking for a dynamic Manager of Patient Access that will be responsible for directing and supervising the patient access functions (scheduling, pre-registration, insurance verification, ER registration, hospital registration, inpatient admission, financial counseling, admission/discharge. Transfer and bed control) within the Patient Access Department. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsible for the frontline supervision within specialty area by overseeing the daily work, completing, updating and making necessary changes in the work schedule, absence management, training employees, assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions and acts as a liaison to the department manager.
- Interviews patient or his/her representative and obtains complete and accurate personal, demographic and financial information necessary for admission.
- Verifies the patient’s insurance coverage to ensure prior authorization is completed if needed

Maintains efficient communication with other hospital departments to facilitate the admissions process.

Qualifications Requirements:
- Associates Degree required. Bachelor Degree preferred.
- Five years in a hospital Patient Access department. Three years previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Experience in patient accounting systems.
- Prior experience in medical billing, collections, insurance, coding required.
- Medical terminology preferred.
