About this Position
Travels to separate locations to operate and maintain OSU-Tulsa equipment. Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, re-packing bearings, replacing packing glands, gaskets, valves, and gauges. Cleans or replaces components using hand tools and power tools. Maintains all air handling units by replacing defective belts, bearings, lubricating fans, and replacing filters. Maintains all building lighting systems, including replacement of fixtures, bulbs, and ballasts. Performs general electrical and plumbing duties. Performs water tests and replaces chemicals in the treatment tank to prevent scale build-up. This role will record data, such as the temperature of equipment, hours of operation, water and air pressure, water levels, voltage loads, and static pressure. Adjusts manual or overrides automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges. Visually inspects equipment at regular intervals to identify malfunctions or necessary repairs. Responds to emergency building system failures for the Tulsa campus and buildings.
Required Qualifications
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
- Active City of Tulsa First Class Unlimited Engineers License.
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
- Knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, chillers, electrical and plumbing systems.
- Local, state and federal codes and regulations applicable to the Tulsa campus.
- OSHA regulations and safety practices related to the boiler room facility.
- Methods and practices used in maintaining and cleaning boilers. Various types of light fixtures, lamp posts, bulbs, ballasts, wattages, volts, etc...
- Basic plumbing knowledge.
- Ability to interpret technical information and understand engineering terminology.
- Record and maintain accurate records of daily engineering logs.
- Administer preventative maintenance program for all buildings and support blueprints and building plans.
- Run HVAC equipment, chillers and boilers. Handle several technical tasks at once and organize daily workload.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Interact effectively with staff, faculty and students.
- Provide high quality service in a university setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School/GED
- Experience with Absorption Chillers and Johnson Controls Metasys systems a plus.
