Position Information Position Title GED Instructor Pool FLSA Non-Exempt FT/PT Part Time Hours Per Week Based on class schedule(s), maximum of 25 hours per week. Work Schedule Courses are offered 9 - 11:30 am or 6:30 - 9:00 pm, twice a week, Monday through Thursday Position Salary Range Starting at $38 per hour Essential Role Responsibilities
- Teach GED subjects (reading, writing, mathematics, science, or history) to adult learners working towards a high school diploma.
- Evaluate learner readiness for next step in course sequence or for the actual GED subject test.
Minimum Education Required Bachelor’s degree Preferred Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; masters preferred.
- Education or related degree with teaching experience required; teaching experience with adult learners strongly preferred.
- Strong classroom management skills
- Empathy for students with barriers and skills in building rapport
- Teaching experience in reading, writing, and math
- Experience with multi-level classrooms
- Creativity in teaching in resource-constrained environments
- Availability to attend monthly professional development sessions (generally, late afternoons/early evenings)
- Preference given to applicants who clearly state in their cover letter how their experience relates to these opportunities.
