Student Medical Assistant – Ideal for Pre-Med, Pre-Nursing, or Pre-PA Students

Altheda Medical Center offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on clinical and administrative experience while preparing for your future in healthcare. Our multi-specialty practice focuses on primary care, special medical exams, occupational health, behavioral health, wellness, and aesthetics. This role is perfect for pre-med, pre-nursing, or pre-PA students looking to build a competitive application while making a meaningful impact in patient care.

What You'll Do:
  • Gain clinical exposure by preparing patient rooms, setting up instruments, and assisting with basic procedures.
  • Assist with direct patient care, including helping patients with transfers, collecting specimens, and preparing for exams.
  • Perform phlebotomy and learn essential clinical techniques under supervision.
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including verifying insurance eligibility and organizing patient flow.
  • Interact with patients and healthcare providers, developing essential communication and professional skills.
  • Handle medical records in compliance with HIPAA, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at healthcare operations.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and the PA Department of Health standards.

What We Look For:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in pre-med, nursing, or a related healthcare field.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with medical/psychiatric terminology is a plus but not required.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred but not mandatory.
