This medical organization (packed with Nobel-winning brain-power) is looking for a Technology Lead to serve as the head of engineering for a specialized development group that will be focused on launching new products and spearheading an innovative startup style, digital-first approach.
You and your band of developers will dig deep in the organization’s digital realm, rapidly ideating new features and spinning-up new prototypes; putting great new products in front of the public at a crucial stage in the company’s long-term trajectory.
Nitty Gritty
This is a true “build to think,” developing-with-design, agile shop. As the leader of development, the gun who gets this gig will be focusing on what to build and how to build it. This startup environment within a well-funded organziation needs a gun to think along strategic terms and to proselytize what the team should focus on building. But, no worries, you will still be able to get into the code.
Your days will be filled with deciding the engineering behind new product launches. Working with product, edit and design you will be exploring what works and building tests for both mobile and web. Bringing the product and business designs to life is your goal. Prototyping is how you will get there. Your day to day will be creating and supporting software with a diverse range of fidelity — from rapid prototypes, designed to facilitate conversations with users — to fully-fledged, public software products.
You will need to keep one eye on the big picture business objectives and the other on what software to build. There are still complex technology problems to be solved and new ambitious service offerings to pursue as a part of the longer-term tech road map.
Hired Gun Profile
You have extensive experience across a stack, as well as agile, and truly understand real-time websites and how to integrate business needs. You will be creating a crack tech team and be all things — their leader, articulate spokesperson, visionary and motivator to spread the gospel to always try new things. Communication is key here. This is a snappy growing team and the person in this role needs to be able to communicate technical concepts across divisions.
Solving complex tech problems and building or evolving a platform is a big part of your bag of tricks. You know how to integrate an experience over to other platforms seamlessly. You thrive on being in the code. Your full-stack experience includes MySQL and Memcache, Ruby, Python or Php and the usual front-end suspects (HTML/CSS/JS). You are not committed to one single language but will choose the right tool for the right product.
UX is something you also care about and have proven instincts in this arena. While you are a talented tech lead, you also thrive on motivating a team and setting up critical road maps that work. You can turn ideas into fast, sturdy code that will impress the business with its speed and your fellow engineers with its elegance.
