Position Description:
- Monitors and evaluates staff performance on all functions in the Admitting Departments
Essential Job Duties:
- Assures adequate department coverage.
- Provides training and direction within the department as needed.
- Monitors day-to-day operations, under the direction of the Director and changes individual assignments as needed to meet department goals.
- Provides appropriate coaching and staff development.
- Ensures upfront collection goals are met and monitors compliance with payment policies.
- Oversees the process of quality control and utilizes the information to improve employee skills and gather accurate data.
- Supervises PAS and PBX functions to ensure the hospital’s customers are handled appropriate according to our Policies and Standards of Excellence.
- Conducts monthly staff meetings as needed and documents the minutes.
- Makes daily rounds to all reporting areas to ensure appropriate staffing, work flow, and patient flow.
Qualifications Job Duties/Responsibilities Requirements:
- Minimum of two years admitting supervisory experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Knowledge of third party payers and insurance verification requirements.
- Knowledge of admitting requirements and regulations.
- Knowledge of the legal and technical aspects of admitting, third party insurance, and scope of responsibility in treating indigent patients required.
- Must be responsible and available for -hour shifts, every day of the year, including holidays and weekends.
- Must have knowledge of Medicare rules, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Must have knowledge of PC and programs necessary for patient admissions.
- In-depth knowledge of registration procedures.
- Organization, communication, management, and interpersonal skills required
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Minimum four years experience in registration, billing and collections in a hospital business office setting, with two years in a supervisory position.
- Written and verbal communications, interpersonal skills.
- Basic organizational and computer skills.
- CPAT or CPAM preferred
