Graphic Designer
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to Art Director
Grade III ($. - $. Based on experience and qualification)
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Graphic Designer conceptualizes and designs various graphics for NewSpring ministries and events as well as implements designs across a wide range of digital and printed materials.
The incumbent must perform all job duties as outlined in this job description to support the ongoing mission of the church while committed in accordance with the Baptist Faith and Message (0 edition).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Conceptualizes and designs various graphics for NewSpring ministries and events. (app. %)
• Implements graphics for promotional materials across a wide range of media, including website, social media, weekly news email, IMAG slides, etc. (app %)
• Implements existing message series graphics across a wide range of media, including website, social media, and other online and printed materials. (app. %)
• Lays out long-form printed publications such as books, booklets, study guides, etc. (app. %)
• Works with the Art Director to consistently update digital and printed graphic elements in public view across campus. (app. %)
These duties are subject to change as church needs and strategies evolve. Employee may be required to perform other duties.
EDUCATION/TRAINING
• College degree or other specialized degree in the related field is required.
EXPERIENCE
• One to two years of graphic design experience is preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite.
• A knowledge of graphic design techniques including color, layout, typography, etc.
• The ability to create illustrations, logos, and designs.
• The ability to implement graphics across multiple mediums.
• The ability to ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing.
• The ability to listen to feedback in order to amend and hone designs.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to work with minimal oversight.
• Positive temperament, dependability, and professionalism.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:
• Occasionally ascend and descend stairs, steps and/or ladders.
• Frequently remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
• Communicate verbally and non-verbally with others to exchange information.
• Frequently lift, carry and move up to pounds.
• Constantly view and operate technological devices, including but not limited to sound equipment, cameras and computers.
• Frequently discern colors and sounds for production of creative elements.
• Ability to use depth perception to judge distances.
• Frequently move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
• Frequently assess creative elements using near and far fields of vision.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position works primarily indoors.
