Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm

Key Responsibilities
- Training: Train new technologists on proper procedures and techniques.
- Technology Evaluation: Evaluate new technology for clinical application.
- Procedure Updates: Assist in updating procedure manuals for inspections and accreditations.
- Block Management: Receive and account for all blocks, addressing any issues.
- Work Coordination: Ensure tasks are completed in histology, special stains, neuropath, frozen sections, and immunohistochemistry.
- Issue Reporting: Report any issues to the Supervisor.
- Specimen Embedding: Ensure proper orientation and produce 4-micron sections.
- Slide Preparation: Stain slides with routine, special stains, and IHC; examine slides for quality.
- Quality Control: Ensure all blocks and slides are clerically correct; assemble and distribute slides.
- Technique Modification: Adapt techniques and apparatus to meet quality standards.
- Rapid Frozen Section Diagnosis: Prepare specimens using liquid nitrogen and a cryostat microtome.
Skills and Abilities
- Train and evaluate new technologists.
- Knowledge of histology, special stains, neuropath, frozen sections, and immunohistochemistry.
- Adaptability to new technology and procedural updates.
- Strong organizational skills for managing blocks and slides.
- Attention to detail for quality control and slide examination.
- Fundamental knowledge of laboratory techniques and instrumentation
Qualifications
Requirements
- High school degree or graduate of a NCCALS approved school of Histotechnology or Associates Degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Registered HT(ASCP) or HLT(ASCP).
