Biocompatibility Scientist- Remote- W2 Contract

Yoh has an immediate, 3 month contract, possible extension as a Biocompatibility Scientist within the Medical Device industry to jour client, Remote, to report to their office in Gainesville, FL

• 8-5PM, Mon-Friday
• Hourly Pay Rate- $120-150/hr. BOE
• 5+ years' experience chemical characterization, toxicological risk assessment, and biological testing
• Remote, but must be able to accomodate EST hours as necessary

Position Overview: The Biocompatibility Scientist will develop biocompatibility evaluation strategies, oversee biocompatibility projects, and provide objective evidence to support the biocompatibility of medical devices and materials according to the ISO 10993 series of standards. This role leverages expertise in the medical device biocompatibility discipline to support the product lifecycle, ensure compliance with regulations, and provide input regarding biocompatibility of materials and processes for new products, line extensions, and revisions to currently marketed products.

What You Will Be Doing

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members in Regulatory, Clinical Affairs, Quality Assurance, Research and Development, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure timely biological assessments for new product development and internally manufactured/externally supplied products.
• Assist with scheduling, planning, and directing biocompatibility project activities, applying appropriate resources to ensure efficient implementation of New Product Development and Sustaining Engineering initiatives, including insourcing and supplier change projects.
• Develop technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems, ensuring solutions are innovative and aligned with organizational objectives.
• Manage biological assessments across multiple projects, providing critical review and interpretation of data and escalating constraints to upper management as needed.
• Facilitate laboratory testing activities, including chemical characterization studies, toxicological risk assessments, biological testing, and laboratory investigations.
• Review, interpret, and summarize testing data, ensuring proper documentation and coordination of internal/external reports such as Biological Evaluation Plans and Biological Evaluation Reports.
• Serve as Corporate Subject Matter Expert (SME), supporting regulatory submissions, interactions with competent authorities (e.g., FDA, BSI), and on-site assessments of biological safety compliance.
• Apply the Quality System and relevant Federal and International standards applicable to medical device manufacturing and biological safety.

Who You Are:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Toxicology, or other related fields such as Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 10993 standards and biocompatibility principles.
• Experience in medical device industry and biological safety compliance.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across diverse teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communcation skills
• Expertise and 5+ years' experience chemical characterization, toxicological risk assessment, and biological testing.
