The University of St. Thomas is seeking a qualified individual to fill an adjunct faculty teaching position for spring semester 2024. The successful candidate will teach PUBH 210 Emerging Infectious disease and Global Health for undergraduate students. The course is planned to be delivered via an in-person, classroom-based teaching modality, with some course work completed online (blended). Spring 2024 schedule is 2/5/2024 to 5/24/2024. PUBH 210 in-person meeting times will be Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:55 a.m. – 11:35 a.m. In addition, this adjunct faculty position will teach two sections/week of the corresponding lab class: Tuesdays 3:25 p.m. – 5:25 p.m. and Thursdays 3:25 p.m. – 5:25 p.m.

Adjunct Faculty Teaching Responsibilities to Include:

  • Design and deliver in-person instruction using student-engaged pedagogical approaches
  • Develop course materials that align with program’s defined objectives and learning outcomes using the program’s designated textbook
  • Provide timely feedback to students re: their grades and progress in course
  • Be available to students for 1-2 hours office per week
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree in Infectious Diseases, Public Health, or related field.
  • Prior teaching experience and/or professional Infectious Disease-related experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • A terminal degree (PhD) in Infectious Diseases, Public Health, or related public health field.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Commitment to high quality instruction in a student-centered environment
  • Ability to cultivate an inclusive learning environment that support students with various learning styles and diverse backgrounds
  • Experience using the Canvas learning management system (preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, and instructional technology to teach traditional, hybrid or online courses
