Position: Senior Cloud Engineer/Architect Azure (Operations-Focused)
Contract Length: 6-month (Contract-to-Hire (CTH))
Location: Denver, CO
Rate: $75/hr on W2
Responsibilities:
Position Overview
This role directly addresses a critical skills gap on the current IT team, which has little to no in-house expertise in the M365 ecosystem and is currently overworked, with a key team member departing soon. The contractor will take primary ownership of M365 administration -stabilizing daily operations, building internal documentation and processes, and mentoring internal staff to reduce single points of failure going forward.

Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support SharePoint Online, including site collections, permissions, information architecture, and governance.
- Manage Microsoft Teams administration, including policies, channels, voice/calling configuration (if applicable), and lifecycle management.
- Administer Exchange Online, including mailboxes, distribution groups, mail flow rules, and security/compliance settings.
- Provide general Microsoft 365 tenant administration: licensing, user/group lifecycle, security groups, and tenant-wide configuration.
- Deploy, configure, and govern Microsoft Copilot for M365, including licensing, data access controls, and user enablement.
- Build and maintain solutions using the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI as needed) to support business process automation.
- Design, build, and maintain Power Automate flows to streamline manual and repetitive business processes.
- Document existing configurations, standard operating procedures, and best practices to close internal knowledge gaps.
- Partner with and mentor internal IT staff to build lasting in-house M365 capability beyond the contract term.
- Identify and remediate security, compliance, and licensing risks across the M365 environment.
- Support the transition of responsibilities from a departing team member, capturing outstanding knowledge and open items.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft 365 administration experience in an enterprise or multi-site environment.
- Demonstrated expertise administering SharePoint Online (architecture, governance, permissions).
- Demonstrated expertise administering Microsoft Teams at the tenant level.
- Demonstrated expertise administering Exchange Online (mail flow, security, compliance).
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot administration and rollout, including licensing and data governance.
- Experience building solutions in the Power Platform, including Power Automate flows and (ideally) Power Apps.
- Strong working knowledge of M365 security and compliance tooling (Conditional Access, DLP, Purview, etc.).
- Relevant Microsoft certifications preferred (e.g., MS-102, MS-700, MS-721, PL-900/PL-400).
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and document work clearly for a small, busy internal team.
- Strong communication skills - this role will interface directly with IT leadership and end users across the business.
