WHAT WE DO

As one of the leading international manufacturers, Amann USA serves the sewing industry with high quality sewing and embroidery threads. Our parent company, Amann & Söhne (known as AMANN Group) is a worldwide operating manufacturer of industrial sewing threads and embroidery yarns, headquartered in Bönnigheim, Germany. AMANN is the market leader in the industrial sector. Internationally, AMANN is among the world's three largest producers. Our technical expertise, reliability and flexibility of production and service make us a strong partner worldwide. We keep in close touch with our customers to develop sewing and embroidery threads for the market needs of tomorrow. As a technology leader we give our customers and partners comprehensive support on everything to do with sewing, and we have been doing so for more than 150 years.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Amann USA is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the company's accounting operations and financial reporting. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, strong internal controls, timely reporting, and compliance with GAAP and IFRS, as well as applicable regulatory requirements. The Controller will partner closely with leadership to support sound financial decision-making and scalable financial operations.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Maintain accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Oversee the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
  • Maintain and document accounting policies, procedures, and controls; ensure consistency and audit readiness.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including variance analysis, and clearly communicate results to leadership.
  • Support leadership with financial analysis related to forecasting, budgeting, and operational planning.
  • Prepare, consolidate, and monitor company budgets.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management activities, ensuring strong controls and timely processing.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and support short- and long-term liquidity planning.
  • Manage banking relationships and daily treasury activities, including account maintenance and controls.
  • Oversee payroll processing and related accounting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Own revenue recognition and ensure appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and related reconciliations, as applicable.
  • Design, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies in accordance with GAAP, IFRS and Amann Group policies.
  • Guide and support staff and stakeholders in the proper application of internal controls.
  • Coordinate the annual external audit and serve as the primary audit liaison.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate the preparation and filing of all required tax returns, annual reports, and statutory filings, working with external advisors as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses to tax, payroll, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage for company assets and coordinate renewals and documentation.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff; set priorities and ensure high-quality execution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, increase efficiency, and reduce manual work.
  • Partner with internal teams to implement accounting, payroll, and financial system improvements.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR COMPANY

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including controllership or senior accounting roles.
  • CPA or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS, including application in a corporate or group reporting environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP required.
  • Experience coordinating audits and working with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and work independently.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

WHAT OUR COMPANY IS PROVIDING

  • Expected salary range of $120,000 - $135,000
  • Generous health benefits – medical, dental, vision, and health reimbursement plan.
  • Retirement plan with up to 4% match.
  • Vacation beginning at 3 weeks annually, 11 holidays, and sick leave.
  • Employer paid Life, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability.
