Job description

Senior Project Manager Engineer

TE Connectivity Sensors Business Unit is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join the Program Management Office global team. Desired location for the position is Hampton, Virginia, however remote option will be considered for the ideal candidate. The project manager owns the project execution and communication with different functions, being responsible for managing Sensors New Product Development project tasks and priorities. The Sr PjM will lead internal cross-functional teams in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Management and Sales. The candidate will also be in position to lead communications with the customer throughout project activities. It is desired for the Sr PjM to anticipate and alleviate bottlenecks, identify and mitigate risks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and will be responsible to ensure every aspect of the program is properly and promptly executed. The Sr PjM will leverage a structured and systematic approach, applying program management best practices and Lean Product Development principles such as Front Loading, Risk Detection & Countermeasures and Set Based Concurrent Engineering all to ensure programs meet technical, performance & product cost requirements, are completed on time and within the project budget. The ideal candidate would be a Project Manager from a technical industry, with demonstrated skills leading projects and programs in a Technology based company. Experience with sensors is a plus.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leverage structured new product development process and stage gate frameworks to lead project activities from initial RFQ through the entire project development and release lifecycle
  • Keep projects on track and ensure timely completion within the defined scope, accountable for successfully meeting or exceeding commitments on product performance, product cost, cycle time, project cost and quality
  • Work in conjunction with Engineering, Product Management, Business Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Finance and Sales
  • Conduct regular frequency of project meetings, maintain action RAIL, document all information and ensure meeting minutes and all data and information is appropriately shared
  • Regularly publish progress status reports to leadership and stakeholders highlighting achievements, milestone deliveries and associated metrics
  • Proactively communicate escalations around challenges, gaps, support required and resource needs to quickly address issues before they impede successful delivery of the program
  • Understand, track and articulate issues / risks / action items; work with responsible owners to address the items on a timely basis; update the appropriate stakeholders as needed
  • Continuous risk assessment and problem resolution; apply change management, risk management and resource management best practices
  • Responsible for the scope of the project and the achievement of objectives: financial commitments, project timelines and milestones, and product quality
  • Serve as spokesperson for project in both internal discussion and external discussions with customer
  • Constantly assess what is working, what is not working, identify areas for improvement and consistently drive continuous improvement
  • Willingness to travel for customer visits regarding project execution progress, assist Business Development/ Sales meetings on all project topics

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline
  • 5-10+ yrs experience in Project Management / PMO, having good knowledge in Project management, including full lifecycle developments
  • Experience with requirements definition, defining project scope and managing scope creep, identifying and mitigating risks, identifying and managing critical dependencies
  • Knowledge of design/product development stages, different manufacturing processes, project management and its tools.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience keeping projects on budget, managing product cost and overall ownership of project P&L.
  • Experience leading global technology and product development teams in a cross-functional, multi-site environment to deliver projects with multiple dependencies and constraints
  • Exceptional fluency in English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with leadership, stakeholders, cross functional teams (engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, finance, sales) and subject matter experts.
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions when presented with a series of challenges, conflicts and constraints
  • Ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining strong attention to the details
  • Auditor experience (ISO 13485, ISO 19011, AS 9001). Understand and navigate ISO 10993. Being able to navigate and understand Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Clauses and Military Specifications. This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). COMPENSATION

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $118,200-$ 177,300 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
