Division of Data, Access, Research, & Teaching Services (DARTS)

The Division of Data, Access, Research, & Teaching Services (DARTS) delivers a broad range of services and programs designed to support the research, teaching, and learning needs of the University of Oregon community. DARTS encompasses units and teams that provide :

  • Circulation and access to collections
  • Collection development and maintenance
  • Instruction in information, visual, and AI literacy
  • Research support
  • Specialized support in research and learning spaces
  • Data services
  • Support for scholarly communication and digital publishing

DARTS also manages operations for five branch library locations : the Design Library, Portland Library, Price Science Commons & Research Library (PSC), Mathematics Library, and the Loyd and Dorothy Rippey Library at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology.

The division's mission is to advance student success, faculty research, and teaching excellence by :

  • Facilitating access to information resources and specialized research spaces
  • Building and maintaining collections
  • Delivering innovative engagement programs
  • Providing instruction and consultation in information, data, and digital literacy
  • Supporting the adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER) and the provision of affordable course materials
  • Within DARTS, subject liaison librarians are assigned to academic departments and work as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver teaching and liaison services tailored to the needs of faculty and students. Each liaison is supervised by a head librarian who also serves as a subject liaison.

    Position Summary

    The Business & Entrepreneurship Librarian serves as the liaison to all departments of the Lundquist School of Business and the Department of Economics across all University of Oregon locations. This role encompasses all aspects of supporting these subject areas, including individual and group consultations with students, faculty, and community users; providing library and course-integrated instruction; creating user materials; developing collections; and, in collaboration with other library departments, ensuring access to information on scholarly communication, data management, and digital scholarship.

    Minimum Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications for the Rank of Assistant Librarian :

  • Master's degree in library / information science from an American Library Association-accredited institution or equivalent international terminal degree.
  • Undergraduate or graduate academic degree in business or closely related field including but not limited to entrepreneurship, industrial engineering, advertising, economics, or two or more years working as a subject liaison librarian supporting business or closely related disciplines.
  • Minimum Qualifications for the Rank of Associate Librarian :

  • Master's degree in library / information science from an American Library Association-accredited institution or equivalent international terminal degree.
  • Six years' post-MLIS, or post-equivalent international terminal degree, of relevant experience in an academic library.
  • Undergraduate or graduate academic degree in business or closely related field including but not limited to entrepreneurship, industrial engineering, advertising, economics, or two or more years working as a subject liaison librarian supporting business or closely related disciplines.
  • Professional Competencies

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact, communicate, and work effectively with individuals, recognizing and respecting the many and varied identities of each person.
  • Ability to teach and / or provide in-person instruction on information literacy topics.
  • Project management skills, problem solving ability and organizational skills, with the ability to manage workload, priorities, and deadlines to achieve goals.
  • Ability to work effectively to develop and maintain programs with faculty, students, and other campus partners.
  • Ability to effectively use and integrate emerging technologies such as AI into workflows and teaching and learning practices with students and faculty as appropriate.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing information literacy instruction in business or relevant subject areas.
  • Experience in developing digital learning objects (e.g. LibGuides, Learning Management System modules, video tutorials, infographics).
  • Experience using key business resources, including but not limited to Business Source Premier, Pitchbook, and Statista.
