  • Job Summary

    This position is scheduled to begin August 2026.

    Instruct Computer Science courses, with an emphasis on the manipulation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills needed to succeed in college level courses. Employ interactive and innovative instructional techniques to reach students with diverse learning styles. Instruct students from various academic backgrounds. Interact with students outside of class in areas such as : student support hours, tutoring, mentoring, honor's projects, undergraduate research, and campus life. Engage in department, campus, and District wide service and in professional development. Demonstrate a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, and integrity, in the performance of job duties.

    Essential Functions

  • Instructs and assesses students with diverse learning styles in and out of the classroom.
  • Develops written syllabi / course outlines and course materials; assesses student knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students scholastic records; prepares and grades exams; maintains academic support hours to assist and advise students.
  • Engages in the academic life of the college by participating in district-wide and campus committees and activities.
  • Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and / or workshops.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    A graduate degree is required. A faculty may qualify with any of the following :

  • Master's degree or higher in the teaching field OR
  • Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours
  • The following disciplines meet the requirements to teach in this field :

    Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Computer Engineering, Computer Systems Analysis, Artificial Intelligence.

    Any coursework that does not have a Computer Science Prefix, but has Masters Level Computer Science Competencies.

    Desired Qualifications

    A. Teaching Experience

    Demonstrated experience teaching computer science or related subjects at the college level preferably with experience utilizing LMS such as Canvas.

    B. Professional / Industry Experience

    Demonstrated professional experience in computing, software engineering, or a related technical field that demonstrates practical expertise and the ability to connect real-world applications to instruction.

    C. Breadth Across Computing Domains

    Demonstrated competency in object-oriented programming as well as having depth in multiple areas of computing (e.g., software engineering, data structures, networks, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence / machine learning, or data science).

    D. Professional Growth and Scholarship

    Evidence of ongoing professional development through technical projects, conference participation, publications, or contributions to advancing computing practice or education.

    E. Collaboration and Service

    Demonstrated record of professional collaboration and service, including committee work, interdisciplinary projects, mentoring, or leadership in institutional or professional settings.
