Job Title: QGIS Expert

Job Type: Contract

Location: Remote

Job Summary: In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead end-to-end projects in QGIS, from raw spatial data acquisition and cleaning to final map outputs and comprehensive deliverables.
  2. Document your workflow and reasoning in real-time as you perform data management, spatial analysis, and map production tasks.
  3. Organize, clean, and validate diverse spatial datasets, ensuring high accuracy and consistency throughout the process.
  4. Manage projections, coordinate systems, and spatial references to optimize data interoperability and output quality.
  5. Style and symbolize map layers for clarity, interpretability, and professional presentation in various contexts.
  6. Build advanced layouts and cartographic products, explaining your design decisions along the way.
  7. Troubleshoot issues and explain problem-solving strategies as they arise within QGIS workflows.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Extensive hands-on experience with QGIS, including managing full GIS projects independently.
  2. Proven track record of delivering high-quality spatial analyses, maps, and geospatial outputs using QGIS.
  3. In-depth understanding of spatial data formats, coordinate systems, projections, and related GIS principles.
  4. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical decisions and workflow rationale.
  5. Strong data organization, cleaning, and transformation skills within QGIS.
  6. Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex challenges in GIS workflows.
  7. Comfortable working remotely while maintaining consistent project documentation and communication with the broader team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience documenting GIS processes for training, teaching, or AI research purposes.
  2. Background in mentoring or collaborating within multi-disciplinary GIS teams.
  3. Familiarity with integrating QGIS with other geospatial tools or programming languages.
