Data Engineer

Location: Denver, CO (On-site)

Employment Type: Permanent

Role Overview

We are looking for a driven Software Engineer to join a growing Data and Platform Engineering team. This role focuses on designing, building, and scaling terabyte-scale data pipelines. Beyond data movement, you will help build foundational data platform tooling, contribute to data governance and compliance initiatives, and solve complex distributed systems challenges that directly impact business performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain deep ownership across multiple large-scale data pipelines and platform services.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services and data pipelines processing massive volumes of data.
  • Develop internal platform tooling to support data governance, data quality, and compliance standards.
  • Define technical scope, enhancements, and deliverables for features with minimal guidance.
  • Contribute to features spanning multiple components of the data ecosystem.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in distributed systems and large-scale data workflows.
  • Communicate technical designs, architecture decisions, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, and engineering teams. This role requires overlap with US working hours.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Experience: 1–2 years of professional software development experience, preferably in backend or data engineering roles.

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and core computer science topics such as operating systems, networking, and databases. The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with big data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark (PySpark or Scala).
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.
  • Experience building and scaling complex ETL pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Understanding of distributed systems concepts and low-level design.
