Department

Data Organizer - Remote

The American Association of University Professors(AAUP) is looking for a Data Organizer to join our growing organizing department, to be filled as soon as possible. AAUP is a fast-growing union of higher education workers. We are mobilizing the higher ed sector against increasing partisan attacks that undermine academic freedom and attacks on important gains of the civil rights movement. Our goal is to defend the higher ed sector while also leading the fight for fair wages, job security, academic freedom, an end to student debt, and expanded collective bargaining rights for higher education workers. The data organizer will help staff across different new union and contract campaigns to create systems and processes of data collection and analysis. The data organizer will also work with field staff. This position requires occasional travel throughout the United States and reports to the Director of Organizing and Services.

The AAUP is committed to a diverse workforce and strives to achieve a workplace environment respectful of the many cultures of our own employees and the higher education workers we represent, including a significant number of African-American, Asian-American/Pacific Islander, and Latinx employees, as well as LGBTQl-identified employees, and those who have immigrated from various countries. The AAUP values the benefits that diversity brings to the faculty profession and the labor movement. We seek applicants whose experience and perspective will contribute to strong representation of our diverse members.

  • Develop and maintain data collection processes, dashboards, trackers, reports, Google Sheets, and other tools that support organizing campaigns and strategic decision-making.
  • Translate campaign data into clear, accessible formats that help organizers track progress, identify opportunities, and inform campaign strategy.
  • Monitor data quality and integrity by supporting data entry, maintaining data hygiene, and implementing best practices for data management.
  • Train and support chapter leaders on use of the database.
  • Provide technical and analytical support for special projects and other organizational priorities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve complex problems in a fast-paced organizing environment.
