The Opportunity
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of McKinney, Texas, by overseeing every phase of the real estate development lifecycle. This position empowers you to drive strategic growth for a premier home builder while mentoring multidisciplinary teams and navigating complex urban planning processes. You will have the autonomy to manage high-stakes projects from initial site acquisition through to final municipal assumption.
How You Will Make an Impact
Evaluate potential development sites through rigorous market research and financial feasibility studies to secure high-value land acquisitions.
Lead the creation of conceptual site plans and master layouts in collaboration with architects to ensure alignment with urban planning standards.
Manage the submission and approval processes for zoning amendments and environmental permits to maintain strict project timelines.
Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, and contractors to ensure all field execution meets design specifications and regulatory requirements.
Direct detailed project budgets and resource allocations to ensure deliverables remain within financial estimates and quality standards.
Represent company interests at city council hearings and public meetings to foster positive community relationships and resolve stakeholder concerns.
Oversee the final inspection and municipal assumption process to facilitate the seamless handover of completed developments to local authorities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Real Estate Development, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
Minimum of 5-8 years of experience specifically within urban planning and real estate development.
Proven track record managing large-scale residential or mixed-use projects from acquisition through project close-out.
Deep knowledge of local zoning laws, land-use policies, environmental regulations, and building codes.
Proficiency in project management software such as Procore or MS Project, along with AutoCAD and GIS systems.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
Possession of an MBA or advanced professional certifications in real estate or planning.
Demonstrated experience in negotiating complex land acquisitions and resolving site-specific regulatory hurdles.
Advanced leadership skills with experience managing deliverable dependencies across diverse consultant teams.
