Maximus is excited to welcome a talented Assembler Language Computer (ALC) Programmer to our team, contributing to enhancing our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Masterfile project. This is a thrilling opportunity to engage in program analysis, design, and development, as well as code maintenance and upgrades. You will play a crucial role in testing and debugging as needed, ensuring top-quality deliverables.

This is a fully remote, direct hire, full-time position.

Applicants must possess an active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) and must be fully compliant with federal tax filing requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide design and implementation expertise to a dynamic software development team.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to design and develop software applications that align with business needs.
• Support testing processes and troubleshoot defects to ensure high-quality outputs.
• Mentor and guide colleagues in your area of proficiency, promoting a culture of learning.

Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create, update, test, and maintain IBM ALC programs to meet evolving project needs.
• Provide support for Java applications and assist in the maintenance of existing Java programs.
• Conduct thorough trial runs of programs to validate outputs and correct any discrepancies.
• Write and adapt software programs tailored to specific tasks, including data management and control.
• Analyze and refactor existing programs leveraging workflow charts and logic application knowledge.
• Manage revisions or enhancements to existing programs to boost efficiency or fulfill new requirements.
• Consult with managerial, engineering, and technical teams to clarify programming intent and propose improvements.
• Perform systems analysis and programming to effectively manage software systems.
• Document all program development and revisions clearly, ensuring comprehensive comments in the code.
• Prepare detailed workflow charts and diagrams to outline processes, translating them into coded instructions.
• Work alongside Computer Systems Analysts to identify and resolve any issues with running programs.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 5+ years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required, or four (4) additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum six (6) years of relevant experience is required.
• Proficient in IBM ALC programming language within a Z/OS environment.
• Familiarity with IBM Job Control Language (JCL) is essential.
• Experience in supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining Java programs is crucial.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
• Proven success in interactions with clients and stakeholders.
• Able to work effectively across all management levels.
• Capable of performing complex tasks independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Able to collaborate effectively in both independent and team environments.

Required Certifications:

Must possess an active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) and maintain compliance with federal tax filing requirements.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience with TSO, File Manager, ISPF, Endevor, and IBM utilities like De-Bug; familiarity with IRS Corporate Systems is a bonus.
