Westchester General Hospital -
POSITION SUMMARY:
To operate the Switchboard/PBX telephones to provide routine information and direct calls to appropriate areas.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs function of information clerk.
2. Performs function of Switchboard Operator.
3. Documents in the departmental logs as appropriate.
4. Performs clerical duties as assigned.
5. Participates in CQI studies as assigned
6. Required to have flexibility of schedule in order to meet the needs of the patient
and family members for the purpose of discharge planning, counseling, etc.
7. Occasionally it may require overtime.
8. Performs other assigned duties as required.

Ability to multitask.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force often and negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, put or otherwise move objects. Minimal sedentary work but involves much standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling and climbing with frequency. May on occasion require lifting to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature
changes.
REASONING DEVELOPMENT:
Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems.
MATHEMATICAL DEVELOPMENT:
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.
LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT:
Reading: Read and understand instructions, manuals, etc.
Writing: Be able to write simple basic reports as needed.
Speaking: Be able to speak with poise, voice control, and confidence, using correct English and a well-modulated voice.
