  • What you'll do

    • Mercor is partnering with leading AI labs to advance frontier agent evaluations in accounting. As a General Accounting Expert, you'll build long-horizon accounting tasks that mirror the work you already do, each paired with a deterministic rubric that grades agent performance against verifiable ground truth. Tasks need to have checkable answers; no open-ended essays, no subjective judgment calls. Expect to build scenarios across : - Transactional accounting : journal entries that balance and map to specified accounts, AP / AR with defined cash application rules

    • Close processes : reconciliations with a known reconciled balance, accruals tied to source invoices, intercompany eliminations that net to zero
    • Supporting analysis : flux explanations against a ground-truth variance These scenarios will be challenging and take long sessions of focus. Who we're looking for - BS in Accounting or related; 3+ years as a staff / senior accountant
    • Expertise in one or more of the following : reconciliations, accruals, intercompany, fixed assets, AP / AR at scale on a major ERP (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Xero, Intacct)
    • Comfortable reading and producing accounting artifacts : JE packages, reconciliations, close checklists, trial balances, workpapers
    • Clear written communication; can articulate reasoning step by step and encode it into deterministic rubrics
    • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
    • Located in the United States or Canada Compensation $50–$70 / hr depending on domain depth and prior experience. Strong contributors are promoted based on task quality and throughput.
