Materials Handler Lead
As a proactive and detail-oriented leader, the Materials Handler Lead will lead an hourly workforce in a high-speed manufacturing environment. Serving as the primary coordinator for production and department logistics, the Lead ensures all output targets, safety protocols, and quality standards are consistently achieved. The role involves significant multitasking, specifically the management of high-priority orders. Beyond overseeing daily operations, the Lead promotes professional development by identifying training needs and mentoring team members to drive continuous excellence in business processes. Reporting to the department manager, the Materials Lead oversees an hourly workforce within a high-speed manufacturing environment. This position is tasked with ensuring strict adherence to quality standards and safety protocols while consistently achieving production objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities Direct a dedicated workforce to advance business objectives, emphasizing EHS excellence, quality assurance, operational efficiency, and punctual delivery. Coordinate, lead, and execute daily production plans to meet all internal and external customer commitments. Work with Engineering, Quality, and Product Service to identify root causes and solve external quality issues. Ensure that ISO 9001 quality system requirements are met, and prepare and maintain work procedures and instruction. Provide Product Service content for and assist in the development of training courses for new and updated products. Accomplish goals while maintaining high team morale, employee involvement, safety, and teamwork. Provide direction to support the needs of each production area, including managing contract resources by work assignments. Applies well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base to solve unpredictable problems and evaluate information from various sources. Work to maintain and further develop a Visual Workplace including support for a 5-S program, active project boards, performance measure charts, and training program status boards. Develop and support the growth of all employees Support all company workplace policies including attendance and safety objectives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred Technical Skills: Knowledge of different materials and their properties. Understanding of construction principles and practices. Communication Skills: Verbal and written communication. Active listening. Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly. Computer Skills: Proficiency in Google Suite or similar software. Safety Awareness: Understanding of OSHA regulations and other safety standards. Ability to implement and enforce safety procedures. Interpersonal Skills: Conflict resolution. Teamwork and collaboration.
Ability to lead projects utilizing project management skills. Experience utilizing SAP as a manufacturing resource.
