Job description

The Events Manager is responsible for driving, coordinating, and executing beverage service and hospitality events across the San Francisco Design Center campus. This role is focused on operational excellence, premium guest experience, and leadership execution.

This is not a sales or commission-based role. Business is primarily contract-driven, and success is measured by operational performance, financial control, and service quality.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on hospitality leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, demonstrates strong service leadership, and maintains exceptional standards of professionalism and execution.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Client Experience

  1. Serve as primary client contact from inquiry through post-event follow-up
  2. Conduct site tours, tastings, and client planning meetings
  3. Develop event proposals, pricing, and event orders
  4. Coordinate event details including menus, timelines, staffing, and layouts
  5. Maintain accurate event records in event management systems (Tripleseat experience preferred)

Event Operations & Execution

  1. Oversee on-site event setup, service execution, and breakdown
  2. Lead pre-shift briefings covering timelines, VIP guests, and service expectations
  3. Resolve operational challenges in real time with professionalism and composure
  4. Maintain brand presentation, service quality, and guest experience standards

Team Leadership

  1. Supervise bartenders, servers, captains, and support staff during events
  2. Provide clear direction on service flow and assignments
  3. Lead by example through hands-on service support during high-volume events
  4. Support training and development of event staff

Financial & Business Management

  1. Prepare event estimates, invoices, and billing documentation
  2. Monitor revenue, labor costs, and cost of goods
  3. Support forecasting and budget tracking
  4. Ensure timely deposit and payment processing

Compliance & Safety

  1. Ensure compliance with alcohol service regulations and safety standards
  2. Maintain sanitation and food safety compliance
  3. Communicate emergency and safety procedures to staff
  4. Report incidents or safety concerns immediately

Vendor & Partner Coordination

  1. Manage vendor logistics including rentals, florals, audiovisual, and staffing partners
  2. Confirm vendor compliance documentation and insurance requirements
  3. Support load-in and load-out coordination

Post-Event Responsibilities

  1. Conduct post-event walkthroughs to restore spaces
  2. Send client follow-up communications within 24 hours
  3. Collect feedback and document operational improvements

Qualifications

  1. 3–5 years of event management experience in beverage sales within hospitality, hotel, catering or restaurants
  2. Strong understanding of event sales, planning, and execution workflows
  3. Excellent client service and communication skills
  4. Ability to manage multiple events in fast-paced environments, Vendor management, change management and risk management.
  5. Tripleseat or similar event software experience preferred
  6. ServSafe, Allergen, and Responsible Alcohol Service certifications preferred (or obtained within 30 days of hire)

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to stand for extended periods
  2. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
  3. Active on-site presence required during events and restaurant operational hours

Schedule Expectations

  1. Flexible schedule required
  2. Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays
  3. Ability to respond to urgent operational or client needs outside standard business hours
