Job Description
This position involves the overseeing of the recycle areas at Howmet Hampton. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the proper pick-up, segregation, staging and disposal of the recyclable materials collected or produced by the various departments within the plant. He/she must also have general knowledge of the recyclable materials on site and the proper storage and disposal procedures involved with each. It requires accuracy in recording and maintaining records such as daily inspections, log sheets and the tracking of the weights of various recycle materials. The position also requires the use of a forklift, drum clamp and pallet jack. The individual assigned to this position must have the required forklift training, a current forklift license and a current Mobile physical on file. The general daily functions are as follows.
Responsibilities
Note that this is only a guideline and the day-to-day functions may vary as required by plant activities/needs.
- Check in with Supervisor after clocking in.
- Fill out a daily forklift and/or pallet jack inspection form.
- Begin daily run ensuring proper storage/disposal of all recyclables
- Do a.m. roll-off check for BPI/WM pick-ups.
- Weigh all required material.
- Empty all drums/hoppers into appropriate roll-off or super sack.
- Maintain cardboard bale area
- Maintain pallet/scrap wood area keep neat/clean/organized.
- Oversee pallet pick-ups.
- Load trucks as needed
- Stage drums that cannot be emptied due to weather or time constraints in the staging area.
- Clean, organize, and maintain recycle and storage areas.
- Line roll-offs as needed and keep roll-offs covered.
- Dump wet metal dust (hoppers outside Structural)
- Inform supervisor of needed equipment repairs/service.
- Duties may vary as required by plant actives/needs
Added Duties as Requested by Supervisor:
- Assist, as needed, in day-to-day duties
- Assist as needed in recycle program.
- Load/Unload trucks.
- Collect and store cardboard and wooden boxes needed for recycle storage.
- Maintain organization and labeling of storage areas and boxes in recycle staging area.
Qualifications
Required: Must be 18 years of age or older Minimum of 1 year forklift experience required No high school diploma, GED or college degree required
Preferred: 1 year of similar work experience
Qualifications, Education, & Training:
- Annual Hazardous Waste Education (Classroom instruction and/or on-the-job training)
- General knowledge in all applicable phases of solid and hazardous waste management.
- Must know how to implement the Howmet Castings Contingency Plan
