If you are a creative, energetic, and motivated individual that enjoys providing outstanding educational experience for children this position is for you!Primary Responsibilities:The ideal candidate will support students during the regular school day by ensuring academic, social, and emotional development of students. AAK support staff work directly with students and teachers to provide academic interventions and extra support as needed. While working in the Community Learning Center, support staff lead, participate in, and take responsibility for after-school and out-of-school program activities.General Responsibilities:Deliver academic interventions to small groups of students, as needed.Provide one-on-one or small group insturction.Monitor student behavior and ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.Supervise students during lunch and/or recess.Work with teachers to provide additional support in the classroom settingMaintain effective communication with the Lead Educator at the assigned sitemunicate with the Special Education Team.Follow the direction of Lead Educator, Principal or other manager(s) with respect to policies and procedures, and adhere to program requirements.Plan, lead, participate in, and take responsibility for after school program activities.Participate in out-of-school time program planning and design.Meet with parents, students, and community members; communicate in a respectful and confidential manner.Identify needed supplies and resources, and inform the Lead Educator. Participate in professional development and program-related training activities.Perform all other duties as assigned by the AAK Principal.Schedule: 7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Hours are consistent and year round, including summer. Additional hours will be available for subbing.Term: One year with the option for renewal, contingent on funding.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentAbility to communicate effectively to multiple audiencesWillingness to work positively with and mentor youthCPR and First Aid Certifications (can provide if needed)Pass required criminal background checksAbility to perform all tasks identified in this job descriptionValid driver's licenseGood physical condition with ability to lift 10 poundsPreferred CompetenciesBachelor's degree from an accredited college or universityExperience working in a school- or community-based out-of-school time organizationKnowledge of after school programs, communities and/or positive youth developmentBilingual (English and Spanish)
