Job Title - Project Engineer
Position Summary
The Project Engineer will join the Product Engineering team and play a key role in managing new programs and localization efforts within a structured APQP environment. This role blends hands-on design engineering with project coordination responsibilities to ensure customer requirements are met on time and to automotive quality standards. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with customers, managing multiple engineering deliverables, and supporting products from concept through launch.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage assigned engineering projects related to new work introduction and product localization, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and internal timelines.
- Support and execute Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including documentation, milestone tracking, and cross-functional coordination.
- Perform detailed mechanical design work using CAD tools, including the development and modification of component and assembly models.
- Act as a technical point of contact for customers, addressing design questions, engineering changes, and program updates.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and supplier teams to support successful program execution and product launches.
- Manage project schedules, deliverables, and action items to meet demanding automotive timelines.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and problem-solving activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Support on-site and virtual customer meetings, with periodic travel to customer locations as well as potential international travel.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes, tools, and customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred.
- Experience in project engineering or product development within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of APQP principles and their application in the automotive industry.
- Proficiency with CAD design tools, with experience using CATIA or similar software.
- Solid project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience supporting customers in a technical or engineering capacity.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Prior experience in the automotive industry.
- Exposure to new product introduction or localization programs.
- Familiarity with engineering change management processes.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Experience Level
This position is targeted at an intermediate-level engineer with demonstrated experience in both design and project execution.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
