It is the steadfast goal of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to provide the most outstanding student-athlete experience by helping them to achieve excellence, both in the classroom and in their chosen sport. The department has approximately 290 academic & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.
The Sports Science Coordinator is responsible for developing and planning performance support strategies across the University of Oregon Athletic Department. The Sport Science Coordinator leads the development and execution of systems and processes to enhance student-athlete readiness, performance, and recovery. These monitoring systems and processes will be imbedded within and around weight-room, conditioning, and practice sessions. They will be required to work harmoniously within a multi-disciplinary high performance environment.
The person in this position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics programs, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, BIG 10 Conference and the NCAA.
Special Requirement
This position will require a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain UO Driver's Certification.
• Master’s degree in sport and exercise science or related field.
• Two years of professional experience providing applied sports science services in a collegiate, professional, or elite athletics environment.
• Experience operating and managing sports science technologies in a high-performance environment (player tracking, force plate, VBT, ForceFrame, Nordboard, timing gates, motion capture).
• Experience working with athlete management systems and data analysis tools including but not limited to SmartaBase (Teamworks), R, Python, etc.
• Experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of periodized programs for athletes.
• Experience in sport science support within the return to play process.
