We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join our growing public accounting firm. This is an opportunity for an accomplished tax professional seeking more than a conventional management role and a clear path toward equity ownership and partnership.
The ideal candidate will have significant public accounting experience, strong technical tax expertise, and a proven ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships. Experience serving Real Estate and/or Private Equity clients is highly preferred.
This position will initially be fully on-site, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid work arrangement as the individual becomes established and demonstrates strong performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee tax engagements for individual, partnership, and corporate clients.
- Lead engagements involving Real Estate, Private Equity, investment partnerships, and closely held businesses.
- Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for accuracy, compliance, and technical quality.
- Provide proactive tax planning and consulting tailored to clients' business and investment objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for key clients.
- Research and resolve complex tax issues and communicate recommendations to clients and engagement teams.
- Manage engagement budgets, deadlines, billing, staffing, and profitability.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop tax professionals.
- Review tax workpapers and returns and provide constructive feedback.
- Coordinate with audit, accounting, and advisory teams to deliver comprehensive client service.
- Assist clients with IRS and state tax notices and examinations.
- Monitor tax law developments and communicate relevant planning opportunities.
- Participate in proposals, networking, presentations, and other business development activities.
- Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and contribute to the growth of the tax practice.
- Work with firm leadership to develop the practice and prepare for increased leadership and ownership responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- Master's degree in Accounting required.
- Active CPA license required.
- 8+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience.
- Extensive experience preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local taxation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines.
- Proven experience supervising, mentoring, and developing tax professionals.
- Strong technical research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, client service, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and work independently.
- Ability and willingness to work fully on-site initially.
Preferred Qualifications & Industry Experience
- Real Estate tax experience highly preferred.
- Private Equity, investment fund, or fund manager experience highly preferred.
- Experience with real estate and investment partnerships and complex partnership structures.
- Familiarity with partnership allocations, capital accounts, distributions, and investor reporting.
- Experience with real estate transactions, acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, and tax planning.
- Knowledge of tax considerations related to Private Equity investments and fund structures.
- Experience serving high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and closely held businesses.
- Strong partnership, S corporation, and C corporation tax experience.
- Multi-state taxation experience.
- IRS and state tax examination experience.
- Proven business development and client relationship expansion experience.
- Experience with CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, UltraTax, GoSystem, or similar tax software.

Salary: $130,000+, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
