Overview
The Client is seeking a
Senior Rhapsody Developer / Project Lead to support the
Advanced Molecular Detection (AMD) / Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) initiative. This role will also support laboratory and disease surveillance systems and contribute to CDC Data Modernization efforts.
The candidate will act as a
technical lead, owning integrations, guiding architecture decisions, supporting critical public health systems, and collaborating with stakeholders across multiple programs.
Key Responsibilities - Serve as Senior Integrations Developer and technical lead for the AMD / WGS project
- Gather requirements, provide technical guidance, effort estimates, and status reporting
- Design, develop, and maintain Rhapsody integration routes
- Perform ETL development, process automation, and data transformations
- Develop and optimize SQL queries including advanced joins
- Work with HL7, XML, CSV, SOAP, and other structured data formats
- Build and consume SOAP-based web services
- Perform testing, validation, UAT, deployment, and post-production support
- Monitor integrations using Rhapsody Web Management Console
- Debug, troubleshoot, reprocess errors, and optimize performance
- Support Rhapsody upgrades and new environment configurations
- Ensure compliance with CDC, HIPAA, CJIS, and SC DPH security standards
- Prepare and maintain system documentation and architecture diagrams
- Mentor team members and advise on best practices
- Coordinate with vendors, internal IT teams, and public health stakeholders
- Support onboarding of partners for ELR, ETOR, eCR, and data sharing initiatives
Required Skills - 5+ years experience with Rhapsody Integration Engine (v6+)
- 5+ years experience with Symphonia Mapping Language (SML)
- 5+ years experience with HL7 (v2.3.1 – v2.5.1; ORU & ORM message types)
- 2+ years experience with XML, XSD, XPath
- 3+ years experience writing advanced SQL join statements
- 5+ years experience with JavaScript (ECMA / E4X)
- 2+ years experience with SOAP Web Services
Preferred Skills - Windows OS / Server Administration
- Public Health, Disease Surveillance Systems, or LIMS experience
- Excel, VBA Macros, Power Automate / Flow
- LOINC and SNOMED terminology
- DevOps tools and JIRA
- REDCap
- FASTQ files and demultiplexing
- Rhapsody Certification (must be clearly listed on resume)
Education - Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field
- Equivalent professional experience will be considered
