Job description

Development Coordinator

Chambliss Center for Children is seeking a passionate and driven Development Coordinator to support fundraising events, donor engagement, grant development, community partnerships, and stewardship activities. This is an exciting opportunity for a development professional who enjoys both relationship building and event planning while helping create life-changing opportunities for children, youth, and families throughout our community.

For more than 150 years, Chambliss Center for Children has been helping children, youth, and families build brighter futures. Chambliss provides a wide range of services that strengthen families and create opportunities for young people to thrive, including early childhood education and childcare programs for infants through school-age children, foster care placement and support services in partnership with the State of Tennessee, adoption services that help children find safe, permanent homes, a Transitional Living Program that provides housing, life skills training, and support for young adults aging out of foster care, and innovative "micro-centers" located within Hamilton County schools that provide convenient, high-quality onsite childcare for teachers and school employees.

Every day, Chambliss helps working families access reliable childcare, supports children in foster care, assists youth transitioning to independence, and creates stronger outcomes for the entire community. When you join Chambliss, your work directly supports programs that impact children and families across the Chattanooga region. Every donor relationship, grant award, sponsorship, and fundraising event helps expand opportunities for those who need them most.

Assist in coordinating fundraising events from planning through execution, research grant opportunities and assist with grant writing and reporting, maintain grant calendars, deadlines, and support documentation, serve as a point of contact for third-party fundraising partners, manage and grow the monthly giving program, prepare donor acknowledgments, impact reports, and donor communications, maintain accurate donor and gift records in the donor database, represent Chambliss Center at community events, networking opportunities, and tours, build positive relationships with donors, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners.

We're seeking a mission-driven professional who combines strong organizational skills with a passion for relationship building. Preferred Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, public relations, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience), experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, donor relations, marketing, communications, or event planning, grant writing and/or grant research experience preferred, experience coordinating projects with multiple deadlines and stakeholders, experience using donor databases (CRM systems) and fundraising software, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Key Qualities for Success include excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and project management abilities, relationship-focused with a genuine passion for connecting with people, self-motivated and able to work independently, curious, resourceful, and skilled at researching opportunities, flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment, professional, dependable, and trustworthy, passionate about helping children and strengthening communities.

At Chambliss, fundraising is about more than raising dollars. It's about creating opportunities for children to learn, helping families remain stable, supporting youth as they transition to adulthood, and strengthening our community for generations to come. As Development Coordinator, you'll help tell these stories, engage community partners, plan meaningful events, and connect donors with the lasting impact of their generosity. You'll join a mission-driven team that values collaboration, innovation, and community impact while offering opportunities to grow your career in nonprofit development and fundraising.

Pay: $21-$24 per hour based on education and experience, generous paid time off, free telehealth services, employer contributions to a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), retirement plan with company match. Chambliss Center for Children is an equal employment opportunity employer. Employment decisions are based on merit and business needs, and not on race, color, citizenship status, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, religion, creed, physical or mental disability, veteran status, or any other factor protected by law.
