About the Job:

The Solution Architect is responsible for driving innovative, value-focused technical solutions for Summit's clients. Using deep technical expertise and AVL knowledge, they develop conceptual designs that align with the client's vision during the sales process and create technical, relational, and budget value with the customer so they ultimately sign proposals and contracts. The Solution Architect serves as the end-result and technical expert throughout the project lifecycle, providing vision for the design and detailed technical expertise to both internal teams and clients. They stay informed on the latest technologies and trends, and bring innovative, leading-edge technologies to customers and the internal team. All essential functions must be performed without endangering the health and or safety of the individual or others.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops & designs high-level functional AVLA design concepts that align with customer vision, are innovative in nature, and efficient in implementation.
  • Serves as a technical expert during the sales process, demonstrating the value of Summit's innovative AVLA technical capabilities, budget adherence, and turnaround time in the sales process.
  • Based on the customer's vision, requirements, and system specifications, produces a complete AVLA system parts list, ensuring all necessary components are included and all scope is documented.
  • Prepares documentation necessary for winning projects, such as loudspeaker design concepts, system sketches, and 3D renderings. Collaborates with Account Manager on Proposal and Contract creation.
  • Collaborates with the engineering team for design documentation by providing initial written concepts, reviewing drawing sets at regular intervals, and providing final approval on construction and installation documents before release.
  • Responsible for the contractually accurate product being installed, documenting parts list changes in change orders to customers, and initiating product returns for system changes as needed.
  • Acts as the technical expert for the final solution delivered to the customer and oversees and performs programming, calibration, customization, and tuning of the AVL systems at Summit HQ and on-site based on project needs.
  • Delivers effective training via in-person and electronic means to staff and volunteers on the new system before and during the first use.
  • Conducts final checks to ensure the system meets Summit Standards, contractual specifications, and customer expectations. Documents system operation, creates backup files, and communicates final system functionality to end-users.
  • Acts as the primary technical support contact for 30 days after installation. Works with the Summit Support Team to quickly resolve equipment or configuration issues during the warranty period.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Audio Engineering, Acoustics, Information Technology, AVL Technology or related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in place of formal education requirements.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in a related field. Certifications or courses in AVL technology, audio/video equipment, and system integration.
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Maintains driver's license in good standing with DMV and the ability to be insured under Summit's insurance policy.
  • 5+ years of experience in an AVL technical role, ideally within the House of Worship industry. Experience in system implementation & operation. Technical Experience with industry-standard tools for designing and configuring AVL systems. Experience with client-facing interactions, including presenting solutions, discussing technical requirements, and guiding clients through the decision-making process.
  • Project management experience or familiarity with managing technical projects, including timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation.
  • Preferred: 7+ years of experience in technical roles, with at least 5 years in a church staff or similar role, 2+ years in touring or production, and 4 years of technical sales. Experience with advanced AVL systems, including design, implementation, and troubleshooting. Expertise in both technical and business aspects of solutions, including balancing client needs with organizational goals (e.g., cost, timeline, scope).

  • Advanced multi-tasking & documentation capabilities with the ability to handle appropriate levels of projects and revenue. Knowledge in audio, video, and lighting systems and can quickly and efficiently design AVL Systems based on customer requirements.
  • The ability to understand and solve complex problems, multitask numerous activities/projects and handle unexpected situations with calm and good judgment.
  • Adhere to routine verbal and/or written instructions. Working under deadlines with speed and accuracy.
  • Near visual acuity and color differentiation.

Working Conditions:

  • Long periods of sitting/standing at a desk.
  • Ability to lift or otherwise move moderate weight (such as a box of paper).
  • Hand movement, including repetitive motions, grasping, holding, finger dexterity, and rotation of the wrist.
  • When traveling, this position may also require frequently standing for 5+ hours, bending and twisting at the neck and waist, reaching forward and above the head, crouching, squatting, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Climbing and working 6+ feet off the ground.
  • Must be able to lift and carry to the shoulder or otherwise move 75/90 pounds regularly/occasionally.
  • This position requires the ability to travel to various locations, including out of state.
  • This position is commonly exposed to inside work, fluorescent lights, concrete floors, computer monitors and screens.
  • When working on a job site, this position must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
  • This position is frequently exposed to loud work areas, exposure to dust, working at 6+ feet from the ground, confined spaces and uneven terrain.

Work Location: Remote in Phoenix, AZ with frequent travel out of state.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Starting at $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year, based on experience

  • Monday–Friday 8am-5pm MT
