Job description

Technical Manager

Lead our technical team and oversee the development, implementation, and optimization of our technology projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plastics and injection molding technology, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for driving innovation and efficiency within the organization. Relocation assistance available.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Mentor and train a team of technicians and machine operators, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. (15-17 direct and dotted line reports)
  • Technical Oversight: Manage the tool room, including current tools, molds, machines, and procurement of new tooling and molds and machine troubleshooting.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and customer support, to align technical initiatives with business objectives.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement technical strategies that support the company's goals, driving innovation and efficiency.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team and project success, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks associated with projects and develop mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management or a related field is a plus and/or relevant on the job training.
  • Experience: 5+ years of technical and process experience in plastic blow molding and injection molding, plastic tooling, molding and mold repair and machine maintenance, with at least 2 years in a related management position.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in plastic blow molding and plastic injection molding (PET, HDPE): Aoki, Uniloy, Sumitomo.
  • Training: Ability to mentor and train
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on innovative solutions to include current machines and molds and an understanding of the capabilities to create new products.
  • Process Improvement: Experience with change management and continuous improvement.
