Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Invasive Duration: 20 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years applicable experience License: RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English. - Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser. - Multicultural sensitivity. - Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. Description: As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the application of the nursing process. Promote the use of evidence-based practice through the nursing process, protocols, and procedures. Assess patient's status through interview, observation, and physical assessment of actual problems and outcomes. Develop an individualized plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and health care team. Use appropriate interventions identified in the plan of care to achieve expected patient outcomes. Systematically evaluate and document patient's progress toward expected outcomes/goals on an ongoing basis throughout the shift. Modify the plan of care based on evaluation. Complete required documentation as appropriate, including patient chart and event reports. Demonstrate professional accountability for own practice as evidenced through seeking resources and continuing self-development. Demonstrate technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot when problems arise. Acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice. Promote the professional development of self and team members. Share clinical knowledge through normal teaching and in response to the learning needs of others. Demonstrate a practical problem-solving approach to patient moving and handling issues. Demonstrate skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment. Possess knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing. Perform patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider orders and hospital lab procedures/policies. Coordinate the interdisciplinary care of the patient through collaboration with team members and utilize additional resources when necessary. Analyze clinical situations in a systematic way and act to obtain resources or correct problems to meet or exceed expected outcomes or patient needs. Recognize need for assistance and utilize resources, including physician and nurse to nurse consultation in a timely manner. Demonstrate ownership and persistence to ensure the problem is resolved in the best way possible. Assume assignment of non-complex and some complex patient management with some turnover in assignment. Consistently prioritize work based on changes in patient condition, changes in assignment, and unanticipated interruptions. Identify and utilize team resources to solve identified problems or needs. Collaborate with the health care team in the organization of tasks and activities for the patient's care from admission to discharge according to the plan of care and to meet identified expected outcomes. Work with other team members in delegating tasks and activities appropriately. Provide goal-focused shift report. Advocate with physicians on patient's behalf when necessary. Utilize communication and teamwork strategies aimed at promoting high team performance and achieving optimal patient outcomes and unit productivity. Choose an appropriate and meaningful communication style when interacting with others. Give and accept constructive feedback to/from peers. Assess and choose teaching strategies appropriate to the patient's/family's age-specific needs. Adapt teaching strategies based on patient's response, readiness to learn, and level of comprehension.
