Warehouse Worker

A Metals4u warehouse worker is the focal point of our service commitment to our customers. It is one of the things that make us different from our competitors. Our warehouse workers must present a professional personal image as well as a positive mental attitude for our customers.

A warehouse worker for Metals4u, Inc. assists our customers by pulling stock, cutting stock to the customers' specifications, and either loading it on the customer vehicle or delivering the order with a Metals4u, Inc. delivery vehicle.

A warehouse worker also unloads delivery trucks, stocks the product in our warehouse bins, and prepares UPS orders for outside shipment.

The Warehouse worker is hired by and reports to the Manager. A warehouse worker is authorized to receive cash or checks from customers when delivering a merchandise order after providing the customer with the proper receipt. The Warehouse worker has the authority to sign for the receipt of inventory delivered to our warehouse. When doing this, they are also responsible for ensuring that the packing list is matched correctly with the material received. They are also specifically authorized to purchase gasoline for our delivery vehicles, using the corporate gas card.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Comply with all pertinent governmental laws, rules, and regulations in the performance of duties.
• Perform all duties in a manner that supports the defined mission of Metals4u, Inc.
• Communicate any unusual needs regarding training, safety, scheduling inventory, supplies, and equipment are communicated to the Manager in a detailed and timely manner to facilitate the appropriate action.
• Present a quality, professional image to the public and to the customers

Duties:

• Assist in opening the warehouse each workday so that we are ready for business at 7:30 am.
• Assist in closing the warehouse each workday at 5:30pm.
• Greet customers in a friendly manner and serve them in a way that supports Metals4u, Inc. mission
• Unload delivery trucks, compare items received with the packing list, sign for those items received, and stock them in the proper bin
• Cut enough pre-cut stock to maintain the level required by the Lead Man to fulfill current sales projections.
• Cut and load inventory for customers onto their vehicle as
• Package inventory for delivery as requested.
• Cut and load customer orders onto our delivery Inspect the load and the truck prior to leaving the warehouse.
• Plan the most efficient route to minimize drive
• Make deliveries in the most efficient manner possible while not jeopardizing
• Keep the warehouse and the individual work areas neat, clean, and
• Observe all safety rules and wear proper safety
• Clean all paper and shipping straps from inside and outside the warehouse.
• Clean and perform preventative maintenance on shears, saws, and other equipment.

Measures of Performance: The Warehouse worker shall be deemed to be performing acceptably when the following have been accomplished:

• Has responded to pick tickets in a timely and friendly manner and no customer has been delayed in service.
• Has assisted in opening the office for business so that we are ready for business at designated opening
• Has greeted customers in a friendly manner and served them quickly and professionally.
• Delivery trucks have been unloaded properly, items received have been compared with the packing list, and inventory has been stocked in the proper bin
• Pre-cut stock has been maintained at the proper level required by the Lead warehouse to fulfill current sales projections and no customer has had to wait for such an item.
• Customer orders have been cut when required, to the proper length, and the inventory has been loaded quickly and safely onto their vehicle.
• Has worked in a team-like manner and cooperated with fellow warehouse workers and supervisory
• When required, inventory has been properly packaged for UPS delivery.

Education/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, diameter, square footage and square inches. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to convert inch to foot conversions, decimal and fractional.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
