Job Description

General Function:

Perform Computer Operations Operator duties per documented processes and procedures. This includes a working knowledge of customer system environment with ability to interact, troubleshoot issues and work independently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Minimum of 2 years experience, preferably in a Data Center Operations environment.
• Due to the 24x7 operations of the business, must be able to work a flexible work schedule, may include nights and weekends & holidays.
• Intermediate understanding of Mainframe, iSERIES, and VM system environments
• Must have JCL, batch job monitoring & scheduling skills (TWS, ROBOT)
• Must have IMS CICS DB2 JES2/3 TSO skills
• Able to perform system IPLs
• Strong experience in 1st level problem determination and reporting
• Understand Problem Management & Change Management requirements
• Escalate tickets as needed and collaborate with teammates to resolve issues.
• Provide assistance to all operations personnel to ensure that the highest level of customer satisfaction is maintained.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative, team environment.
• Ability to multitask with a high attention to detail.
• Remain current with all procedures and provide input as appropriate.
• Must be able and willing to learn new tasks/skills as required
• Escalate to the assigned client representative and Pomeroy Manager any documentation, process or procedure discrepancies and follow-up until resolved.
• .Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.
• Must be able to communicate and understand verbal, written and electronic instructions in English.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

• Moderate to difficult computer skills, experience using Excel and Word is required.
• Ability to follow detailed processes/instructions is required.
• Employee may be requested to assist with individual and shift schedules in accordance with budget guidelines and may be required to work under remote supervision.
• Enjoys Working in a Fast-paced Environment.
• Knowledge of Computer Hardware, Software and Related Services.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Perform additional tasks and/or duties as assigned by management.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to be on feet for extended periods of time. Due to the nature of the position, must be able to lift 50 lbs. over head.Must be able to move rolling carts as needed. Must be able to operate for extended hours in a loud, temperature controlled data center.While performing the duties of this class, employees are regularly required to sit; talk or hear, in person and by multi-media; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; and reach with hands and arms. Employees are frequently required to walk, stand and move about to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Must have ability to ascend and descend stairs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

General office environment

• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Follow all safety and security rules.
• Ensure that client work space is maintained and safe at all times.
• Escalate to the assigned client representative and Pomeroy Manager all safety or security issues and follow-up until resolved.
• Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 50% of the time.
