Job Description

AECOM is seeking an initiative-taking Graduate Process Professional to be based in the Denver, Colorado office to support mining projects in the planning and design phases.

This position is expected to begin ASAP.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Create and review process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for pumping and piping systems.
  • Perform equipment sizing calculations and specify equipment and instrumentation for new and existing facilities.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations to determine pipe sizes, control valve sizing, and pump sizing for water/acid solutions using industry standard software programs in conformance with codes and standards as well as project requirements.
  • Develop process deliverables like design criteria, hydraulic simulations, PFDs/P&IDs, material balances, control narratives, and technical memorandums.
  • Perform early project design work such as conceptual studies, process flow diagram development, P&IDs, mass balances, preliminary equipment sizing and selection, datasheets, and general facility layout/arrangements.
  • Assembling calculation packages for the sizing of mechanical and process equipment such as pumps, tanks, piping systems, etc.
  • Developing reports in Microsoft Word to communicate the technical results of these calculations, including summaries, figures, tables, methodologies, and explanations of significant calculations.
  • Collaborate with project teams including project managers, contractors, vendors, and a multi-discipline team to create engineered designs from these calculations, studies and analysis into project-specific designs.
  • Participate in multi-discipline safety reviews (HAZOPs/PHAs).
  • Ensure the required services meet project requirements on time and within budget.
  • Work during normal operating hours to collaborate with the project team and complete work within given deadlines.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Chemical Engineering or a related field + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Passing score on the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, with Engineer in Training (EIT) credential or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Proficiency in fluid dynamic simulation software (e.g., Fathom) and other relevant process analysis software experience is a bonus.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and practices related to process design and safety.
  • Previous process engineering experience preferred, but not required.
  • Strong Microsoft skills in Windows, Office 365, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to communicate and telecommunicate professionally.
  • Adaptable to working with personnel from different geographic environments and cultures.
  • Proactive "can-do" attitude towards working with colleagues.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to various project team members.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects.


Additional Information

  • Relocation is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship is not available at any time for this position.
  • This position includes travel for as-built efforts and site walkdowns (up to 25% of the time).
