Job description

Safety Manager

This role is critical for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive accident prevention and safety programs across projects and the company. The Safety Manager will conduct work area assessments, perform jobsite inspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition, and facilitate safety meetings and training programs. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, supporting job hazard analysis, evaluating program effectiveness through field walks, and providing coaching and feedback on safety behaviors. The role also involves supporting incident investigations and managing injury/illness cases, requiring strong independent work skills, communication, and at least 7 years of construction safety experience, including OSHA 30 certification.

What you will do:

  1. Develops and manages the administration of the project/company accident prevention efforts.
  2. Develop and facilitate appropriate training programs.
  3. Conduct work area assessments.
  4. Develop, organize, and implement safety related programs that meet company safety standards.
  5. Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors.
  6. Coordinate and conduct safety meetings/training programs to ensure effective communication amongst employees.
  7. Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  8. Ensure safety completion by reviewing the job hazard analysis for major phases of our work.
  9. Support Crew Foreman/General Foremen in development of Job Hazard Analyses.
  10. Evaluate effectiveness of safety programs through daily field walks. Regulatory compliance and audit oversight.
  11. Meet regularly with field personnel and support in the development of project specific corrective action plans to address safety issues and concerns.
  12. Provide regular feedback to project leadership in a constructive manner on needed areas for safety improvement and recognition.
  13. Provide coaching and mentoring for employees exhibiting unsafe behaviors and provide recognition for employees exhibiting safe behaviors.
  14. Assist with delivery of jobsite specific safety orientations for new employees joining the project, as applicable.
  15. Support Project Leadership in completion of incident investigations.

Facilitate all injury/illness cases.

What you will need:

  • BS degree or 7-10 years of related experience and at least 3 years in a managing leadership capacity.
  • Minimum 7 years in construction safety experience
  • OSHA 30 Construction required.
  • STS-C or CHST are required.
  • Experience with union workforce desired.
  • Ability to work independently, strong communication skills with ability to influence behaviors.
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum rate for the Safety Manager position is $100,000/yr and the maximum rate for the Safety Manager position is $110,000/yr. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
