Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - BJ Roberts Behavioral Health CenterSchedules: 3 pm to 11:30 pm with rotating weekendsSalary: $52,278 + $2.50/hr Shift Differential for overnight hoursSign-On Bonus: $3,000The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board's BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center is dedicated to serving individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. The center provides a comprehensive range of urgent behavioral health services, including crisis intervention, therapy, medication management, and suicide prevention services. Unlike traditional emergency departments, the facility is designed to offer a calm, therapeutic environment that promotes stabilization, recovery, and compassionate care.About the roleHampton-Newport News Community Services Board is hiring LPNs to work at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center located in Hampton. This position supports safe, accurate medication services for adults receiving behavioral health and substance use treatment, partnering closely with the clinic psychiatrist and care team.Key responsibilities include medication ordering/dispensing, administration and documentation (including controlled substances and methadone when applicable), routine physical and mental health nursing assessments, supportive counseling during care encounters, intake and follow-up interviews, maintaining inventories, and completing required records and reports.Required qualifications/skills:- Graduate of an accredited LPN nursing program- One year of medication administration experience in substance abuse treatment, psychiatric care, or long-term care (including dispensing narcotic medication)Apply to bring your LPN skills to a safety-focused overnight setting.Overnight WorkflowAs an LPN, you'll begin by reviewing handoff notes, MARs, and any new or time-sensitive orders, then prioritize medication passes and monitoring needs for the shift. You'll coordinate with the on-call provider as needed, answer routine medication questions, and keep documentation current so the team has clear, audit-ready records by morning. Between scheduled tasks, you'll check in with clients to support comfort and stability, complete brief reassessments, and update charts after any status changes.
