Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Job Description Job Title Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Job Summary Join a dedicated healthcare team in Madison, Wisconsin, as an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician. This role provides essential support to pharmacy operations within a hospital setting, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical care to a diverse inpatient population. The successful candidate will contribute to the daily workflow by assisting pharmacists in medication preparation, distribution, and inventory management. This position offers an opportunity to leverage your expertise in a dynamic environment, directly impacting patient care through meticulous attention to detail and adherence to established protocols. You will be an integral part of a collaborative team committed to maintaining high standards of medication safety and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile and non-sterile products, for inpatient use. Maintain accurate medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating supplies. Process medication orders, manage automated dispensing cabinets, and ensure timely delivery of medications to patient care areas. Adhere strictly to all state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures related to medication handling and safety. Perform routine quality assurance checks and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Assist with medication reconciliation and patient education as directed by a supervising pharmacist. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacy Technician license or accreditation in the state of Wisconsin. Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience as an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician. High school diploma or equivalent. May require additional certifications based on facility or unit needs. Preferred Qualifications Not specified. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in medication preparation, including sterile compounding techniques. Experience with pharmacy automation systems (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell) and electronic health records (EHR). Strong understanding of pharmaceutical calculations and medical terminology. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Shift Details Shift Type: AM Shift Duration: 8 hours Days per Week: 5 days Schedule: Monday - Friday Call Requirements: Not specified. Weekend Rotations: Not specified. Contract Length: 26 weeks Assignment Dates: September 21, 2026 - March 22, 2027 Licensing Requirements Active Pharmacy Technician license or accreditation in the state of Wisconsin.
