Job Summary:
The Social Media and Newsletter Assistant in Cinematic Arts is responsible for assembling and designing posts for the department's social media accounts and newsletter. In this role, the student will collaborate with faculty and department staff to determine what content should be used, write copy and build the posts in alignment with college requirements. The student may be asked to assist with other design or creative projects that support dept. needs. This position is ideal for students with a foundation in graphic design, digital media, or cinematic arts and offers a unique opportunity to develop both technical and creative skills in a professional setting.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with department faculty and staff to develop a post calendar up to one month in advance.
• Learn college requirements for social media and newsletter posts and implement them as appropriate.
• Collect, manage, organize and archive media for use in media.
• Write copy for social media posts and the newsletter.
• Develop workflow for ongoing review and approvals of social media posts with the CCA Marketing team.
• Assist with design and marketing projects, including content creation, graphics, and promotional materials.
• Work on creative projects related to the department's promotional needs or ongoing events.
• Assist the Department Staff with additional operational duties as assigned.
• Take responsibility for timesheet, time off, tracking hours, and making adjustments in the schedule, as per work study allotment, communicating any schedule changes in advance
Minimum Qualifications:
• Ability to develop and implement work plans
• Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a quiet setting, communicate effectively, and maintain a professional demeanor.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite and graphic design softwares (Adobe Suite, Canva, etc.)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Flexibility and a positive attitude
• Willingness to ask for help and problem-solve
• Ability to stand or sit for long periods; ability to lift 25 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
• Enrolled in at least one Cinematic Arts class (FVM prefix).
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and/or other softwares for video and media editing.
• Basic knowledge of social media platforms and marketing communication is a plus.
• Creativity and interest in assisting with visual design and content creation for promotional materials.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Must have a completed FAFSA on file
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours
- Must not have already earned a first bachelor’s degree
- Must be pursuing an eligible program of study
Selection Process:
All submitted applications will undergo an initial review to verify work-study eligibility. Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will have their applications forwarded to the hiring manager for consideration. The hiring manager will contact selected candidates to schedule an interview.
Applicants who do not meet work-study eligibility requirements will not be advanced in the selection process. Questions regarding work-study eligibility should be directed to the Financial Aid Office.
